First off I would like to personally thank everyone that has come out to see our display. We had a banner year for vistors this year dispite the weather. Had we known that putting up our Christmas display this year was going to bring this much rain, we would have put it up in JUNE !!!!!
We were disappointed that we could not bring up the display on Christmas eve or Christmas night. But the weather just would not let up and we kept popping GFI circuits. Yes we could have plugged in to a non-GFI outlet, but that would have possibly made the display dangerous to vistors and to us. We will leave the display up a few more days. We are expeting rain again on Dec 26th. We are hoping to dry everything out and have an opportunity to take some video. Keep checking back for new pictures and hopefully some video if you didn't get to see the display in person. Also check out the menu bar. We have added a new feature called GAMES. I found this particular game on the NORAD SANTA site and loved it!!! Once again, thank you to all our vistors of both the web site and the display. We hope you all enjoyed a safe and happy Christmas day. Merry Christmas to all.... and to all a good night. I have updated the web page (yes... again) to make the HOME page a little more static and informative. It is supposed to be an introduction to the site. I made a new Show Information page and moved all of the custom coding over to it. It still shows the showtimes which I put into a table to make it look better, and the show status. It also includes the Goggle Map to our display.
I hope you like the new format !! We finally had a littel time to work on the web site and add some pictures from the 2011 display. We worked the 2011 photo section. Its set up just like the 2010 photo section with our pictures on the main page and the pictures from our friend Rory on thier own page.
As I was going to the front yard to replace a couple of bulbs in the yard grid I heard the sound of a diesel engine out front. I walked around the corner and HOLY MOLY !!! there parked in front of our house was the Cooks Springs Baptist Church bus. I was floored. I walked out to the bus and greeted all the kids and audlts on the bus.
As they got ready to leave, one of the ladies on the bus had the kids sing me "We wish you a Merry Christmas". Once again.. I was floored. Thank you to the good folks over at Cooks Springs Baptist Church for coming out to see our show. Sandra and I can't thank you enough. People ask "why do you do all of this"... THIS is why.. the kids and grownups both loved it. Well unfortunately we had to take down the suspend train under the porch. We had some issues with the track and the train that eventually led to the train derailing and falling to the ground :-( ...
The train is being packed up and sent to Bachmann for repair. So far the folks at Bachmann have been absolutely GREAT!!! We plan on updating the track and the suspension and hopefully the White Christmas Express will be back on the rails next year. |
