On 06/10/13 I took the plans over to the fabrication shop. There are couple of small projects ahead of me, but we are on track for the sign. Once I get the sign frame, we will paint it and start installing the coro panels. Then install the lights and wire it up ... We are already working on sequences ..
We should have something to show shortly. I did start updating the "How-To" pages on the sign. Be sure to take a look... We are moving forward .. STILL .. Can't believe its already June and we are still focused...

Okay, so what is the definition of a person addicted to Christmas decorating? That would be .... me.!! Its 90+ degrees outside and I am in my shop working on the Merry Christmas sign. There should be snowflakes on the sign.... not sweat.. LOL ...
Anyway... we decided to have David over at HolidayCoro custom cut our coro (we decided on the black coro. See the pictures in the prevous blog post) into 18" squares to make the letters. David gave us a great price and the pieces were perfect. Today I laid out the grid to make the letters and drilled them using a Fostner bit in the drill press. I was able to do all except the holes in the middle of the letter.. I didnt have enough clearance on the press so I had to do them by hand. In case you havent followed the project. We are rebuilding the sign that was destroyed last year in the wind storm on Christmas Day. This time we are building a stackable steel frame and using pixels to create the dots in each letter. If all goes well, it will be AWESOME !!! Next week I will visit a local friend of mine that owns a welding and fabrication shop and have the frame built. Additionally, I "think" I have the wiring down so we wont have a repeat of the candy cane fiasco. I am also taking pictures of the build up for a how-to. I will start on it shortly so keep watching!!
